Claire Cross Duo:
In intimate performances Claire Cross (electric bass) and Harry Cook (piano) intertwine their distinctive voices to create flowing, improvised, neoclassical-jazz crossover composites. Collaborating to compose these pieces, they blur their timbres and vocabularies into a unique dialect - reflecting thematically on the complexities, challenges and joys of sharing musical & intimate relationships. Together through sound they explore unspoken dialogues.
The duo interweave the textures and timbres of the piano and electric bass, reframing the possibilities of this unusual combination through immersive compositions. The music draws deeply on influences including Skúli Sverrisson, Arvo Pärt, Nils Frahm and Christopher Hale.
Having released their debut album Dialect in 2023 on Australian label ABC Jazz, receiving glowing reviews and over 200k streams on Spotify, the duo have since been offered the opportunity undertake an Artist Residency at the Arvo Pärt Centre in Estonia in 2025, as they look towards developing new music for their 2nd album.
