kinder lesen.hören 18 | Julian Wenzel und Linda Becker: Was ist eigentlich dieses LGBTIQ*?
Am I bi, lesbian or gay? What actually is trans? And how does it differ from drag? For kids, these questions are often not at all clear and can even be quite overwhelming. The book "What is this LGBTIQ* anyway?" introduces young people and kids to gender identity. 🏳️🌈 Two of the book's three authors read it live in Mannheim: Julian Wenzel and Linda Becker.
Heidelberger Science Slam
At the Heidelberg Science Slam, experience how the incomprehensible becomes clear, how you take away amazing new knowledge - and still laugh with tears. 🥹 In a relaxed atmosphere, young scientists take to the stage to demonstrate how captivating science can be. 🧪 In a concise ten minutes, they present the latest findings from their research in a creative, understandable and entertaining way. At the end, the audience decides who gave the best presentation 📢

Then head to the flea markets in Heidelberg and Mannheim! 🛍️ The second-hand event has everything you're looking for on a classic shopping trip. What's more, you're doing something good for the planet when you buy second-hand clothes. We think it's a win-win! 🤩
Smash the Patriarchy! Asha Hedayati, Christina Clemm, Laura Leupi, Daniel Arkadij Gerzenberg
The patriarchy: Laura Leupi and Daniel Arkadij Gerzenberg have examined, named and fought it on an artistic level, Asha Hedayati and Christina Clemm as lawyers. ✊ They present their findings at the reading. You can find out more about structural discrimination and how to deal with and combat it in a multifaceted and well-founded way. Super interesting! 😌
JUSE JU
Juse Ju's rap moves between social criticism and cynicism, irony and seriousness. Love, politics, the internet - name a topic, Juse has a clever lyric for it. 🎤 So it's your own fault if you don't catch his energetic live show at the Karlstorbahnhof! 💥
Mannheimer Science Slam
If the Heidelberg Science Slam is too far away for you, go to the Mannheim edition! Here, too, scientists present the latest in their research in a creative, understandable and entertaining way. 🧑🔬 At the end, the audience decides who has given the best presentation. 📢
PANTHA - präsentiert von Rausgegangen
Pantha may be a newcomer, but she writes songs that could just as easily take place on the big festival stages. 💭 In her lyrics, she pours her heart out to you without falling into kitsch - crass and mega beautiful! So check her out at the Mannheim forum before she goes through the roof 🚀
ok.danke.tschüss
ok.danke.tschüss address the big issues without losing sight of the fun. The band around frontwoman Eva brings an extremely energetic live show to the stage of the Alte Feuerwache without any finger-wagging attitude and with a lot of humor 👯♀️
HALLER
Honest, raw, soulful lyrics - that can only be Haller. ✨ Born in Aachen, he makes music that is both contemporary and timeless. The musician reflects the questions of Generation Y with precision and empathy like no other. You can experience him in a cozy living room atmosphere at the forum! 🎶
Ausverkauft: Mine
Mine is relentlessly emotional and a musician through and through. The 38-year-old has already got a few things off the ground, such as a crowdfunded orchestral concert. 😧 This year, however, she is going on tour again with her band and pouring her heart out on Germany's stages. A concert you shouldn't miss!
Kabinett - Blackout Tour 2024
Mannheim newcomer band Kabinett will play their first headlining tour in Germany in 2024! What began as an insider tip is now a rising star in the indie rock sky 🌌 Smoky vocals, broad synth pads and distorted guitars will be live at halle02 in May 🪩
Mannheimer Stadtfest
The Mannheim City Festival is probably the largest free open-air event in the region. This year, there will once again be a diverse program in the squares. There will be five stages including live performances by local bands. 🎶 Sports and cultural clubs will also be presenting themselves, and there will be a children's festival with circus, theater, clowns and hands-on programs for the little ones. 🎪
Engin
German-Turkish indie rock? Sounds spaced out, and it is a bit. 🚀 Nevertheless, the Mannheim-based band is already delighting lovers of psychedelic sounds from all over the world. But indie pop/rock fans of AnnenMayKantereit, for example, will also be happy at ENGIN concerts. 😌 A particularly exciting mix of genres that you should definitely experience live!
Mannheim Jazz Festival
If you love jazz, you should definitely pay a visit to the Mannheim Jazz Festival this year. 🎺 National and regional stars of the scene will be performing in the historic Rosengarten. These include, for example, drummer Anika Nilles and her band and Kerstin Haberecht, one of Germany's biggest saxophone talents! 🎷
GIANT ROOKS
The Giant Rooks are now known for their catchy songs not only in Germany, but also worldwide. Their sound sounds like London, but the five guys are from NRW. What's more, they really rock the house live - let's see if the tent at the Rhine-Neckar Tent Festival is still standing 😅
OG KEEMO SÜD:SÜD FEST - FIEBER SPEZIAL
SÜD SÜD FEST 2024 is not only the third of its kind, but also OG Keemo's only headline show of the year. Together with his friends, he offers Mannheim a (naturally) rap-heavy evening with fat beats and lots of energy and sweat. An absolute must for fans of the genre! 🎤
FABER
Haunting lyrics, a powerful voice and versatile instrumentals - that's Faber. The Swiss singer's songs are characterized by an honest and emotional approach. 🎼 His unique voice is not the only reason he has established himself in the German-speaking music scene. In 2024, he will be a guest at the Zeltfestival Rhein-Neckar, where he will captivate his audience with a mixture of folk, rock and chanson elements. 🤝
THE CARDIGANS
The Cardigans are playing their only (!!) show in Germany this year at the Maimarkt in Mannheim. The Swedish band was really big internationally in the 1990s 🚀 They have built on this success and have always been known for their catchy pop melodies and the characteristic voice of their singer Nina Persson. Their unmistakable sound is best experienced live! 🎤
Rikas
Watch out, the 4 Boys are the reincarnation of soft indie pop. At the end of October there was a new record and now the corresponding tour. The band from Stuggi combines the warming Californian sun, a hefty portion of funk and honey-sweet melancholic lyrics. All in all a musical 10/10. Go there, buy tickets! Or get lucky with our raffle.
PAULA CAROLINA
Neue Deutsche Welle is back! And newcomer Paula Carolina shows how fresh it can sound. Electric guitar and fast beats paired with sometimes more, sometimes less serious lyrics - that's probably the best way to describe the 23-year-old's discography. If you want to experience a really nice party, head straight to the Alte Feuerwache and let the cold November heat you up 🧯
NightWash
Felix Lobrecht, Carolin Kebekus, Chris Tall - they all made their first appearances on NightWash. So the evening at Capitol is sure to feature fresh stand-up comedy from established comedians and newcomers. 🤝 They will be accompanied by surprising show interludes - and hopefully an audience laughing with tears!
Not in Mannheim and Heidelberg - but worth a trip!

One last dance: the annual electronic and contemporary pop music class trip to Gremminer See comes together for the very last time.
