🎤 Q&A - Everything you need to know about concerts in Leipzig
Where is it worth going to a concert in Leipzig?
In short: wherever there's music. Leipzig has that very special mix of established venues and charming, crazy niche locations. If you like big shows, the QUARTERBACK Immobilien Arena or Haus Auensee are the right places for you. You can fit a good crowd in there, the sound bangs and you get to see the big names in the scene.
But the magic? That often happens elsewhere. At Werk 2 with its raw industrial aesthetic. At UT Connewitz, where history and subculture meet. Or in smaller venues such as Horns Erben or Moritzbastei, where you can experience artists before they make it big. Tip: Just let yourself drift - Leipzig rewards you with diversity.
What are these "Geheimkonzerte" all about?
Geheimkonzerte in Leipzig are more than just a trend - they are an expression of a lively, creative scene. The venues are often only announced shortly beforehand: a vacant factory site, a gallery, a project space. And the line-up? Always a surprise. What counts is the experience: intimate and often cross-genre. If you're up for the unpredictable - go for it.
How does the dress code work - is there even such a thing?
Not really. Leipzig ticks pleasantly freely. You can dress up, but you don't have to. You can wear a band shirt, dance barefoot or lounge around in a vintage sweater and chucks - it's all been done, it's all okay. The important thing is that it has to be comfortable. You'll be standing, dancing and sweating. And when you're out and about: layering is your best friend.
I don't have anyone to come with me. Concert alone - weird?
Not at all. Quite the opposite: going to a concert solo is a form of freedom that many people underestimate. You're not distracted, don't have to be considerate and can fully immerse yourself in the music. And: you're definitely not alone - many people come solo, and often conversations just happen because you're standing next to each other and feel what's happening on stage together. Sounds cheesy? Sometimes it is. But nice and cheesy.
Another ultimate tip?
Yes. Don't wait for the perfect moment. The perfect moment is when music calls. Even if you don't know the act. Even if you think it's "not quite your genre". Just then. Leipzig has a knack for positively surprising you. And who knows - maybe this evening will be your new favorite concert.
