Klimt, Frida Kahlo, Banksy or the Dino exhibition: Berlin has seen pretty much everything. Colorful splashes of paint scattered across the room, black and white photos in large format or oil paintings from the 16th century - there's nothing you won't find here. Especially in Mitte, Kreuzberg and Charlottenburg, there are numerous galleries such as the König Galerie, Neue Nationalgalerie or Berlinische Galerie. But the Berlin art scene has also put down deep roots in all of Berlin's other neighborhoods.

Berlin attracts international artists because studios and the cost of living have long been affordable compared to other major cities. Back then, lol. That's how many artists' collectives and residency programs such as Künstlerhaus Bethanien came about <3

Which exhibitions are currently in Berlin 2025?

Regardless of whether you are enthusiastic about the red dot on the white A4 sheet, the detailed acrylic painting or the analog photos from the 90s, we all have one thing in common: we are spoiled for choice! We show you current exhibition openings that we find exciting - so that you have a top view of the jungle of Berlin art venues.

DARK MATTER Berlin

Dark Matter is known for its spectacular light and sound installations. The new exhibition SKALAR starts on March 28 - the dates will be displayed at the location.

SKALAR is an audiovisual artwork by Christopher Bauder in collaboration with Kangding Ray. It combines floating mirrors, synchronized light and a multidimensional sound system to create an immersive light and sound installation.

The work explores the influence of light and sound on human perception and is based on Robert Plutchik's theory of the eight primary emotions. Light is shaped as a tangible material into architectural sculptures that interact with Kangding Ray's richly textured music.

With 65 motorized mirrors, 90 spotlights and a multi-channel sound system, SKALAR creates a 45 x 20 x 10 metre dynamic light structure that opens up a new dimension in contemporary art. The exhibition can be seen until mid-September.

LAS Art Foundation presents Laure Prouvost: WE FELT A STAR DYING

In the current exhibition at Kraftwerk, you can look forward to a multi-sensory installation by Laure Prouvost that deals with quantum computing. To mark the 100th anniversary of quantum physics, she combines video, sound, scent, sculpture and scenography to create an expansive experience.

Through exclusive access to a quantum computer and exchanges with scientists such as Tobias Rees and Hartmut Neven, Prouvost develops playful, experimental techniques that challenge perception. The installation will be shown at Kraftwerk Berlin and opens up new perspectives on the technology of our time.

The project is part of the LAS Art Foundation's quantum program, which includes further installations, a symposium and a publication until 2026. The exhibition runs until May.

Ayoung Kim: Many Worlds Over

Ayoung Kim's first solo exhibition in a German museum shows her last years of artistic practice and deals with the themes of time, reality, belonging and queerness. With the help of artificial intelligence, video, game simulations and sculptures, she creates fictional universes in which time and space have their own laws. In her exhibition at Hamburger Bahnhof, the artist accompanies a delivery driver and her double in a futuristic Seoul, where cyclical and non-linear time and possible worlds collide. The audience is actively involved in the narratives and influences the virtual landscape, which is extended into the physical space of the museum. The exhibition runs until mid-July.
