Are you already dreading the end of summer and don't know what to do without open air, festivals and outdoor pools? 🌧️ Don't worry, I'll tell you how you can put off the winter blues even longer. You think opera only has dusty classics in store? You thought wrong. The new program of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein is once again super colorful and offers something for the senses, and not just for regular visitors. From young opera and modern ballet to real classics - there's something for everyone here. 🩰🎶
Our highlights of the season
The following pieces are definitely on my list. Maybe there's something for you too:
Scandal behind the scenes!
Prima la Mamma! – Sitten und Unsitten am Theater (Operette)
A virtuoso, colorful and comedic parody about the customs and mores of the theater. Sounds exciting, doesn't it? Because on stage, it's about events that we as visitors normally don't notice. From 02.10.2025 at the Düsseldorf Opera House.
Passion story in tango rhythm
María de Buenos Aires
An homage to the tango, a journey to Buenos Aires - between joie de vivre, surrealism and melancholy, the opera tells the story of María's life in reverse as she finds redemption through poetry. Fancy a mythical performance that transcends the boundaries of the real world? Then you've come to the right place! From 07.02.2026 at the Düsseldorf Opera House.
Boléro & Co - choreographic encounters
Soirée Ravel
150 years of Maurice Ravel. The Ballett am Rhein celebrates the anniversary with new creations in a wide variety of styles and presents four new dance pieces based on four compositions. Introduced by a piano concerto, the dancers will whisk you away to very different worlds. And I can promise you one thing for sure: you have certainly never experienced the famous Boléro in such a cool way! I'm already very excited! From 12.09.2025 at the Düsseldorf Opera House.
Ballet classics in a new guise
Dornröschen
One of the most famous and greatest ballet classics that you definitely have to see! What makes it special: What's special: Choreographer Bridget Breiner tells the fairy tale in her very own way and dusts off the old clichés. Anyone who has seen her Cinderella version "Soot" knows that her pieces are brilliant in terms of dance technique and that there is never a dull moment. Neoclassical ballet in a modern narrative form. I'm particularly looking forward to this! From 15.11.2025 at the Düsseldorf Opera House.
