GESCHMACKSTALENTE 2024 - the 10 gastro talents of the main round
Rausgegangen is not only your best buddy when it comes to the best events in Dortmund - but also your partner in crime when it comes to the best cafés, bars and clubs in the city. After all, what would a day full of dancing and good vibes be without replenishing your energy reserves with a proper feast at the end? The unveiling of tomorrow's hotspots begins now with the GESCHMACKSTALENTE start-up competition, Dortmund's hottest gastronomic competition! 👀 The Dortmund Economic Development Agency has once again selected a colorful mix of ten promising concepts to shake up the city's gastronomy scene. We introduce you to these gastronomic talents, all of whom have what it takes to conquer Dortmund's taste buds.
The Top 10 TASTE TALENTS
This year, 25 gastro talents applied with their idea papers, but only the ten best made it through to the main round. From a Japandi-style tea bar to a concept that brings the food culture of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Dortmund, the variety of concepts is impressive. The shortlist also includes ideas such as "Self-made, self-eaten", which makes ice cream lovers an active part of the production process, and "Soup Culture", which impresses with edible bowls and a variety of vegetarian and vegan dishes.
The finalists in the spotlight
The Duda
Susanne Sedlaczek: A café/bistro with a focus on healthy, quickly available dishes and a vegan, vegetarian and partly gluten-free range.

Good stuff
Julia Prang: Innovative gastronomy initiative with a focus on high-quality, seasonal ingredients and a range of vegan and vegetarian options.
Parent-child café
Selvi Aksünger: A place that combines a play area for children with childcare, healthy food, coffee, vegan snacks and a work area for parents.
HANA - tea & flowers
Alina Saltheim: Japandi-style mobile tea bar at Dortmund's weekly market with high-quality teas, ikebana flower arrangements and matcha cookies.
Mowwe's mill
Alexander Mowwe: Traditional restaurant reinterpreted as a meeting place for young and old with changing weekly dishes and a modern pub feel.

Home-made, home-eaten
Viktoriia Vlaskina: Café where guests can learn about the entire ice cream production process and taste freshly prepared desserts.
Smash N' Grill
Björn Koch: Cosy restaurant specializing in authentic smash burgers, fried chicken and loaded fries, with vegan options.
Soup Culture
Iryna Kulishkina and Alina Berestovytska: Offers various cream soups and vegetarian dishes in edible bowls to minimize waste and promote healthy eating.
Tshitshi's casseroles
Magali Tshitungu and Tabitha Tshimbalanga: Share Congo's culinary passion and promote food culture with professional cooking classes and tastings.
WINE GREEN
Philipp Steinke, Phil Couwenbergs and Deniz Özdemir: Wine bar with regional German wine, accompanied by a selection of cheese and sausages as well as events such as stand-up comedy and bingo evenings.

The road to victory
And what happens now? The 10 teams in the main round will be accompanied by experienced coaches and receive valuable tips on how to further develop their concepts. Their specialist knowledge will be deepened and their network with Dortmund restaurant professionals expanded. Finally, it's all about submitting the business plan and pitching to the expert jury in order to win cash and non-cash prizes with a total value of over €80,000. The final of GESCHMACKSTALENTE 2024 will take place on June 17 in the ButterRaum at the Hansa coking plant. 🏆
