The first Berlin Zero Waste Action Weeks: Berlin shows how it's done!
Berlin is becoming the capital of waste avoidance! The first Zero Waste Action Weeks start on 21.10.24, and one thing is certain: it's not just talk, it's action! Until 24.11.24, everything in the city will revolve around waste prevention, resource conservation and the question of how we can waste less and at the same time preserve more of our planet. Whether it's upcycling, repair cafés or specialist lectures - everyone who wants to campaign for a sustainable Berlin will find what they're looking for here.
What exactly is zero waste?
Imagine a world where nothing is wasted. Where resources run in circles and waste is no longer an issue. This is exactly what the Zero Waste Action Weeks want to bring us closer to. It's not just about doing without, but about using resources more cleverly, producing less waste and finding alternatives that are also fun! And the good news: anyone can take part.
And what is happening now during the Berlin Zero Waste Action Weeks?
It starts on October 21 and until the end of November you can look forward to over 170 events taking place all over Berlin. Whether you're interested in upcycling, have always wanted to repair something at a repair café or want to find out more about sustainable consumption at a specialist lecture - the choice is huge. A special highlight: many events are also free of charge, so don't miss out!
For the tech nerds among us, there are exciting online seminars where you can learn how to use your devices for longer or which new technologies are currently being hotly debated in the field of the circular economy. Workshops, talks and exhibitions are also on the agenda - from textiles and technology to sustainable food. The goal? A Berlin that becomes circular, i.e. where everything that is produced is also reused.
Why should you be there?
The Zero Waste Agency, which is organizing the whole thing, has set itself a clear goal: Everyone in Berlin should see how easy it can be to reduce waste and conserve resources. Meike Al-Habash, head of the agency, puts it in a nutshell: "We want to make visible the many ways in which each individual can actively contribute to environmental protection." And that's not just an empty slogan - during the campaign weeks, you can get started right away and become part of the movement.
So, whether you're already a zero-waste pro or just want to be inspired - you'll definitely find new ideas here. You'll be surprised how easy it can be to conserve resources without sacrificing comfort.
