By bike to the beer garden
If you want to combine beer gardening with a bike tour, you could head for one of these 5 beer gardens. Because after a few kilometers on the saddle, the beer tastes even better.
How long the route is, of course, depends on where you start. Our starting point for this article is always Marienplatz.
Biergarten Zum Flaucher
If you don't really like cycling, but don't want to sit in a beer garden in the middle of the city, the Flaucher beer garden is the right place for you. It is located not far from Candidplatz in the Isar meadows. The sound of the Isar comes on top of a visit. In addition to delicacies from the Ochsenbraterei, the beer garden also has a large selection of vegetarian dishes such as eggplant and tomato lasagne or vegetable quiche with chive sour cream. It's always worth taking a look at the menu of the day. Cycling distance: 4.5 kilometers
Aumeister
80939 München
Let's start off easy. For the Aumeister, you actually "only" have to cycle once through the English Garden, always heading in a northerly direction. Once you have passed through the busy southern part of the English Garden and crossed the ring road (over the bridge directly behind Kleinhesseloher See), the Aumeister is signposted at almost every corner. In addition to Bavarian delicacies, we recommend the Steckerlfisch, which is legendarily good. The beer comes from the Hofbräuhaus brewery and fresh waffles are available for the sweet-toothed: 8.5 kilometers.
Gutshof Menterschwaige
81545 München
On a cycle tour along the Isar, the Menterschwaige estate is the perfect culinary stopover or destination. Coming from Flaucher, you pass Hellabrunn Zoo and continue up the Isar to Harlaching. The Menterschwaige is well signposted, so don't miss it. Once there, park your bikes, find a shady spot under the large trees and look forward to Obatzten with a large pretzel and a cool beer from Löwenbräu. Cycling distance: 9 kilometers
Waldwirtschaft Großhesselohe
82049 Pullach im Isartal
Waldwirtschaft - known as WaWi for short - is located a little further south than Menterschwaige. Namely in Großhesselohe. As the name suggests, it is a wonderful place to sit under tall trees in a really large beer garden. In addition to good food and Spatenbier, the WaWi is also known for its jazz music. Live, of course. One last plus point: once you've regained your strength, you can play a round of mini golf! All you have to do is find your way from the beer garden to the courses next door. Cycling distance: 10 kilometers
Gasthaus zur Mühle
82064 Straßlach-Dingharting
The Gasthaus zur Mühle in the wonderfully idyllic Isar Valley is a real gem. It was built in 1807 and is now a listed building. You may have to pedal a little longer to get there, but the journey is worth it. The beer garden is located next to the longest raft slide in Europe. As you can see, the Gasthaus zur Mühle has many attractions. You can fortify yourself for the return journey with Bavarian delicacies such as roast pork, homemade meatballs with potato salad or spaghetti with wild garlic pesto. If your hunger is of a sweeter nature, you can look forward to coffee and homemade cake. Beer is available on tap. Cycling distance: 21 kilometers
