1. Liedsoiree: »The Crown«

In the organizer's words:

Dramas about queens

They are always the subject of great narratives on stage, in songs, poems and stories - whether ruler or ruler's wife, whether reality or myth.

Soprano Theresa Immerz and pianist Manon Parmentier dedicate the first recital of this season to these musical dramas about queens. You can look forward to well-known works such as Robert Schumann's songs based on poems by Mary Stuart or Maurice Ravel's "Ballade de la reine morte d'aimer" and songs and song cycles by Francis Poulenc, John Harbison and the American composer Libby Larsen that are yet to be discovered.

"The Crown" marks the start of the new song soiree series at the Heidelberg Theater and Orchestra.

Hardly any genre stands for individual artistic expression more than the art song. On four dates - the next ones will take place in December 2024, January and June 2025 - the members of the opera ensemble invite you to the Alter Saal and present many different facets of the art of song - from classical to modern - and show the diversity of this popular genre. Each evening promises a unique musical experience in which our singers and the musical sophistication of the art song take center stage.
