In the organizer's words:

An event organized by the Literaturhaus Bonn.

Congratulations - the Haus der Bildung is celebrating its 10th birthday! Together with our neighbors, the Bonn City Library and the Bonn Adult Education Center, we invite you to a colorful open day with a variety of activities for young and old. Make a note of the date; we will keep you up to date with further program details:

Open office door 11.30 am - 3 pm
Visit the Literaturhaus office, browse our shelves and leaf through our guest book! We will show you where and how our program is created, answer your questions and inform you about "Bonn reads a book" and more.

The glass reading circle, room and time to be announced, duration approx. 45 min.
Our reading circles are one of the most popular offers at the Literaturhaus. Every month they meet over tea and wine to discuss selected books. For once, you can experience just how exciting this is as an onlooker: The "Transparent Reading Circle", led by Bonn-based author Judith Merchant, discusses "THE SEA OF ASWANG" by Allan N. Derain , which can be experienced as part of the Philippines' guest country appearance at the Frankfurt Book Fair in October and also with us in Bonn.

Books made in Bonn, 3 p.m., hall
Where and how is literature created in Bonn? Is there a coffee house culture here with real authors? What do they do when they get stuck? And which drink can help then, espresso or mint tea?

These and other questions will be discussed live on stage by two people who should know: Judith Merchant and Denis Pfabe have been meeting weekly for years in a secret café in Bonn to talk about their writing and more.
For their 10th birthday, they are doing this for the first time in the Haus der Bildung - and you can listen in!

Judith Merchant, born in Bonn in 1976, is a literary scholar, lecturer and award-winning author. She publishes short stories, children's books, crime novels and thrillers, including several bestsellers.

Denis Pfabe, born in Bonn in 1986, is a trained retail salesman and studied media communication and journalism in Cologne. He has received numerous awards for his writing, most recently the Deutschlandfunkpreis at the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition 2024. His third novel will be published in January 2026.
