10. UrbanSlam: Bauen im Bestand!

In the organizer's words:

This year, the 10th UrbanSlam will take place under the motto: "Back to the future: continue with existing buildings!".

Architecture is one of the greatest potential allies in putting a stop to climate change. Preserving, repairing, upgrading, reusing or recycling - are these the most important tasks for architects in the 21st century? Does the future of building lie in existing buildings? Is there a need for a more radical questioning of existing buildings, including buildings from the 50s, 60s and 70s? Which buildings have urban planning significance and therefore also create identity? - We will be asking these questions in the 10th "UrbanSlam" of the AKNW, which the Chamber of Architects of North Rhine-Westphalia will once again be holding in Gelsenkirchen on June 13 in cooperation with the "Baukultur NRW" initiative.

Young planners will present their thoughts, concepts or visions on the topic in short, concise slams lasting a maximum of 10 minutes. The audience is invited to vote for the most interesting contributions by applause - and is also welcome to join in the discussion.
