Immerse yourself with us in the history of astronomy since the invention of the first planetarium. Learn how far our knowledge has come in the last 100 years and experience the power of a modern planetarium. In this live show, Tania Johnston (Head of ESO Supernova) and Wolfgang Vieser (ESO Education Coordinator) will take you on a journey through the universe and back in time. After the live part of the show, enjoy the futuristic planetarium show "KIRA", which was specially produced to celebrate the planetarium's 100th anniversary.
The film "KIRA" was produced by Dr. Peter Popp and the team from Softmachine Immersive Productions on behalf of the Society of German-speaking Planetariums (GDP).
In the not-too-distant future, the largest company on the planet controls the most precious resource on earth: water. A courageous duo, Eve and Max, are prepared to risk everything to bring the truth to light and give humanity a chance of survival. As the danger draws closer, Kira steps in to help. But who or what is Kira? What is real in a world where the lines between reality and technology are blurred? And more importantly, what is true?
The ESO Supernova will be open on May 7 until around 8.30 pm. During this time, the exhibition can also be visited without a ticket.
