14. Slow Club Geburtstag #2: NOWAVES + MELTING PALMS + ANGEILIKAS + RUMKRAKEHLE

The Slow Club is 14 years old - let's celebrate!

Day 2 - Friday, 11.10.

NOWAVES + MELTNG PALMS + ANGEILIKAS + RUMKRAKEHLE

NOWAVES
feels like déjà vu.
You know the sound from somewhere, but you don't know exactly where. Melancholic synth waves waft around the beach garage guitar. This is underpinned by sophisticated bass lines and minimalist drums.

You are finally carried away by the sound of the vocals, which are either overdriven or crystal clear in places.
The feelings triggered are somewhere between joy and melancholy.

Excerpt from the Ox Fanzine about the album "Odd Secrets":
"What the band delivers here once again oscillates somewhere between post-punk, cheekiness, a relaxed basic attitude and a basic musical understanding that, looking back, I would have gladly killed for in the early eighties [...].

Another wonderfully relaxed post-punk album, without fear of the synthesizer or the garage. Some people would pledge their souls for this density of hits."

MELTNG PALMS
They are considered the loudest band in Hamburg, blown up pigeonholes pave their way and now their second album "Noise Between The Shades" has been released.
A cascade of euphoria and drama - it's hard to find more beautiful sound, noise and emotion anywhere else.
"What we all have in common is reverb - no matter which musical corner we come from, there has to be a lot of reverb and delay on the sound, that's our intersection."
Five heads united in their fascination for reverb, delay, reverb - where can you find that?
Well, at Melting Palms that's where.
Their brute sound opens up spaces, creates space, but is always highly concentrated at the same time.
Vague references include My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth or Deerhunter, but you'd have to dig deep into the neologism box for genre terms:
Could this now be shoegaze psychedelic, kraut-punk or wrecking-ball schlager?
I have no idea.
What is certain, however, is that "Noise Between The Shades" is an album that has the power to reach far beyond the German-speaking world.

ANGEILIKAS
We are Angeilikas.
The latest craze from the Black Forest. Something with Schlager, punk and dialect performance but above all morz gäggig.
The Angeilikas are Yvonne as multi-talent on keyboard, drums and guitar, Moni as absolute showmaster on keyboard and vocals, Ernst with an incomparable sense of rhythm on drums, guitar and vocals and Gabi, the Hip Hop Influence on bass, keyboard and vocals.
