DER SPIEGEL called the Belgian chansonnier Jacques Brel a "singing animal" who gave his all on stage. "Amsterdam", "Ne me quitte pas", "L'amour est mort" with biting humor and bitter melancholy he packed the great dramas of life into immortal chansons. His theatrical talent is unforgettable, his music - a world of its own. Paris-born Dominique Horwitz, a celebrated stage, film and television star, knows how to celebrate Brel's music like no other. His songs seem as if they were written for Horwitz - not for nothing did he receive the prestigious Mephisto Prize for his Brel program in 2002. And the Süddeutsche Zeitung is convinced: "It often becomes embarrassing when actors try to be singers or vice versa. [...] And then there is Dominique Horwitz, for whom both seem to come naturally, as if one had something to do with the other. His brothers in spirit are Serge Gainsbourg and Jacques Brel."
