2 Tonnen Kalkstein

In the organizer's words:

At the center of "2 tons of limestone" is a soldier's memorial from 1926, which is located near the IDEAL art space on Neustädter Markt. With the exhibition, we want to get people from the neighborhood talking about the war memorial, because today the memorial is the site of numerous graffiti and controversial debates. We have combed through archives and set up an exhibition in which the history of the memorial can be experienced. In doing so, we are using artistic research to investigate which memories are enshrined in the city and what an urban politics of remembrance could look like.

With a program of discussion rounds and cinema evenings, the project pursues the question of how to deal with the monument in our district in the future.
