Not only Christmas carols, but also many large and small works of classical music create a musical atmosphere at the most beautiful time of the year. In their "Christmas in Song and Word" series, the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing original and arranged works by great composers this year, including the enchanting Flute Quartet in D major KV 285, which Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart completed on Christmas Day 1777 to suit the occasion. While alto Ingeborg Danz takes on the vocal part, narrator Bernt Hahn complements the program with Christmas stories and poems by literary classics such as Hermann Hesse, Joseph von Eichendorff and Theodor Storm.
