On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, August 12-14, 2025 , our 238th auction for stamps, coins and postal history will take place with an attractive offering of over 4,200 lots of international philately and numismatics .
In our summer auction, as usual including "live bidding" on the Internet, we are offering a wide range of lots with many rarities from German and international collecting areas from the classical period to modern times.
The old German states are very well represented(around 930 lots), including rarities such as several attractive examples of the Bavarian "Schwarze Einser" or Saxony's "Dreier", Baden 6 Kr. Prussian blue (no. 19 b) in an unused block of four(largest known unit), a wide range of Prussian issues including rare units, covers and postmarks, Württemberg 70 Kr. red-purple (no. 42 b) in an unused luxury pair from the sheet corner and many more.
The German Reich is represented with rare issues, selected quality items and valuable collections, in particular specialties of the Germania issue, the rare 5 Pf. Nothilfe- Landeswappen 1928 with standing watermark(No. 425 X), rich stocks field post II. WK a.o.
In the section post-war Germanywe offer again a nice offer Bizone with many specialties and features, one of the few known pre-first day covers with the red overprint set No. 21/34 and No. 42 from the post office in the house of the Magistratsverwaltung für Post- und Fernmeldewesen as well as other Berlin FDC rarities and much more.
The German colonies and foreign post offices are represented with over 180 lots, including top items from the various colonial areas such as Caroline Nos. 1-6 I on cabinet covers, interesting postal history covers, including German foreign mail in China with a rare double franking NANKING LOCAL POST together with 20 Pfg. forerunner (Michel No. V48 d) on 1896 cover to Tettenborn in Bavaria.
The foreign collecting areas shine among others with a good offer France Classic, Austria incl. good postcard and cover items, Poland among others with rarely offered values of the Krakow overprint issue and local post, Old Switzerland with a qualified offer from Poste Locale 1850, rich European and overseas collections and much more.
The collection and coin department comprises over 1,450 lots: mostly untouched lots, collections and estates, numerous large lots as well as valuable coin collections, investment and collector coins from over 700 years of coin history. Among them, Old Germany and the German Empire are well represented with rare talers and imperial silver coins, dozens of gold coins from all over the world , etc. Particularly noteworthy are the Anhalt coins with a diverse range of small coins and talers, the rare 2 mark pieces Friedrich I. 1896 A and Friedrich II. 1904 A (J 20, 22), 5 Mark Friedrich I. 1896 A (21), Brunswick with the sought-after 3 Mark and 5 Mark Duke Ernst August 1915 A without Lüneburg (J 55, 56), Saxe-Coburg and Gotha 5 Mark Carl Eduard 1907 A (J 148), valuable US-American coins from 1787, many of them with grading, gold coins from China and Hong Kong as well as rare exotic silver coins with mini mintages.
