Homage to the 100th birthday of György Kurtág

György Kurtág is undoubtedly one of the most important composers of our time, celebrating his 100th birthday on February 19, 2026. His music is "fragile, defenseless, as if awkwardly groping its way through the pathless, wavering towards the edge of silence - but at the same time glowing with emotional intensity", as Kurtág expert Hartmut Lück once wonderfully put it. As a birthday present, Christof Weinig, double bass player with the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra, has put together a program of works by the Hungarian composer, which he will perform together with his wife, son and close companions. A very personal discussion concert for a very special composer.
