3. LiederAbend - De l’amour à la folie

The third LiederAbend of this season tells the story of how love becomes madness. Under the title "De l'amour à la folie" ("From love to madness"), soprano Laia Vallés and pianist André Callegaro have put together a program with music by Camille Saint-Saëns, Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel and Francis Poulenc that shows love in all its facets and stages, from the exciting happiness of falling in love to the calm enjoyment of the moment and the mourning of a past love. "De l'amour à la folie" reflects the stylistic richness and compositional diversity of late 19th and early 20th century France: heartfelt romanticism, seductive impressionistic sounds and neoclassical sarcasm.
