Many years ago, a special neighborhood moved into a Berlin apartment building: a dominatrix studio was set up on the first floor, run by Tina, a woman who quickly proved to be a self-confident and emancipated personality. Despite personal crises and her gambling addiction, Tina persevered in her profession as Lady MacLaine for over three decades and managed to retire unscathed. Her intelligence and middle-class background helped her to do so - unlike many of her colleagues who ended tragically. Tina wrote about her extraordinary life story in her memoir Thirty Years on the Whip. This story inspired Rosa von Praunheim to film her experiences in the form of a docudrama.
