40 Jahre Dortmunder Kunstverein - Jubiläumsfest

The Dortmunder Kunstverein turns 40! We are celebrating this special anniversary with you on November 30, 2024 - four decades and four days after it was founded

We are looking forward to a special air show with artist kites, lectures, concerts, performances and DJ sets. Check out the full program below and we look forward to celebrating together.

5 pm Musical performance: Soya Arakawa - Shoumi / 正味
At various locations in the Kunstverein, the artist performs with the three-stringed Japanese sanshin and sings traditional Okinawan folk songs as well as improvised pieces. As a child, Soya Arakawa could only sing one song properly, which he varied in many ways to relieve boredom on the way to school. Arakawa combines this playful approach with folk songs - including songs that were traditionally sung on the way to work in the fields to accompany monotonous work.

6 p.m. Concert: Peter Strickmann - Totter Passel
Totter Passel is a solo performance project by sound artist Peter Strickmann, in which a self-built pneumatic instrument acts as the protagonist and animates small puddles of water through constant winds. The water in the bent pipes produces a rich vocabulary of sounds between sequencer mimicry patterns, fake synth sounds and miniature water percussion. The supporting roles are played by feedback manipulations and self-made wind instruments such as a roof-board saxophone and a cup bassoon.
