40. Pfingst Open Air

With its 40th anniversary edition, the Pfingst Open Air Essen (POA) 2025 will once again transform the Löwental into a lively festival site for music lovers from all over the region on Whit Saturday, June 7, from 1 pm. POA has been offering more than just live music for years: it is a place for exchange, living culture, shared experiences and discovering new sounds - traditionally free of charge in the beautiful Löwental, of course.

"The trusting collaboration with the Rockförderverein has always resulted in a successful event in recent years. We are now delighted to have a new, committed partner at our side with Indie Radar Ruhr," says Muchtar Al Ghusain, Head of Youth, Education and Culture. "The festival will thus continue its tradition of 'umsonst und draußen' in the coming years."

"Our program reflects current social debates - fresh, diverse and at the same time firmly anchored in the tradition of the Pfingst Open Air," says organizer Maxi Janetzki from Indie Radar Ruhr.

Musical spectrum of indie, pop, hip-hop and electronic music

The thematic-musical spectrum of indie, pop, hip-hop and electronic music will carry visitors from the melancholy of summer (Blumengarten) to themes processed in rap such as migration history, failed integration and male vulnerability (Apsilon) to powerful rock sounds with a French flair (Laventure).

The "Elektronische Wiese" will also be back this year. The line-up will be announced at a later date. The final preparations are currently underway.
