Works by Bach, Handel, Zelenka, Huber and Isang Yun
Baroque music meets modern music, yesterday meets today: one of Johann Sebastian Bach's famous "Brandenburg Concertos", for example, meets Isang Yun's "Inventions for Two Oboes". But unlike Bach's inventions, the Korean composer is primarily concerned with special playing techniques, such as trills and glissandi. And while Handel uses the Baroque concerto form, Klaus Huber only wrote his "Noctes intelligibilis lucis" in 1961, but he played it on the harpsichord, an instrument typical of the Baroque period. The program thus plays with sounds, forms and instrumentation, creating connections across eras.
