5th Avenue

Genuine, energetic classic hard rock from the Waterkant:

Authentic, straightforward, honest. That's what the eight Hamburg boys and girls from 5th Avenue stand for. They can call themselves a "cult band", ... as "Hamburg's best live band", ... according to Metal-Hammer even as "one of the best Wacken acts". In fact, they are the only band from the line-up of the very first Wacken Open Air in 1990 that still exists today and has been a guest at the now world-famous metal festival many more times. They have also played various shows and international tours with various greats from rock history, including STATUS QUO, PLAN B, SAXON, D-A-D, DORO and the HOOTERS. In 2016, the first album "Last Greetings from the Petting Zoo" was released, on which 5th Avenue combined their best twelve rock anthems to date from the band's earlier and more recent history. The release of the next album is planned for 2024 - long overdue and eagerly awaited - the production of which had to be postponed several times due to the coronavirus pandemic.

5th Avenue was originally founded in 1989. In the 90s, the band landed a major deal with Polydor and recorded their first album at the legendary Goodnight LA Studios in Los Angeles. However, only the commercially successful single "Luka" was released, a cover of Suzanne Vega's hit, before the band unexpectedly disbanded in 1996. It wasn't until 2012 that they got back together in a partly old, partly new line-up - and continued what they had started much earlier with an even more mature sound.
