On Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 8 p.m., the time has come again: for the sixth time, graphic artist, illustrator and author Roman Gerhardt will present his diorama made from the popular Danish clamping bricks at Platz der Luftbrücke. This year, Sven Heinemann, member of the Berlin parliament and SPD state director, will give the opening speech. The exhibition can be seen free of charge until March 2025.
Roman Gerhardt has been showing a large Lego diorama since 2019, with new buildings and landscapes being added every year. His shop window has now become an institution in the neighborhood and beyond: From as early as late summer, people regularly ask about the next show at the pharmacy. The diorama consists of sets from the 1970s to 1990s, when cars were still four studs wide and you had to make do with just a few basic colors, as well as his own creations in the same style. While the children enjoy the many details, the adults rediscover the sets of their childhood and indulge in happy memories. The architecture on display ranges from medieval half-timbered houses to old buildings with stucco façades and modern office buildings; two buildings in the Brutalist style of the 1970s are particularly spectacular.
This year there will also be a fundraising campaign in aid of the Historische S-Bahn e.V. association, and representatives of the association will also be present to talk about their work on the "great railroad".
