80 Jahre danach – Schneeblumen-Gedenkweg am 13. April 2025

In the organizer's words:

Start: 7 p.m. at the site of the former Buchenwald satellite camp Markkleeberg, ASG-Bildungsstätte, Equipagenweg 15

Route (Markkleeberg via Dölitz, Lößnig to Probstheida): approx. 6.5 km with reading of the names and music of the prisoners at a total of approx. 25 stations along the way.

Conclusion: approx. 9.50 pm in Probstheida, Russenstraße 23

On the night of April 13, 1945, they were driven through the darkened streets of Leipzig from the Buchenwald subcamp Wolfswinkel/Markkleeberg in the freezing rain: 1500 forced laborers - Jewish Hungarian women and French political prisoners. Many of them did not survive the march that was to take them to Theresienstadt. For others, it was a hardship-filled journey to a new life.
80 years later, we invite you to walk the first part of the path together, with signs and gestures of sympathy and remembrance and the legacy: to meet all people with an open heart and not to give hostility any room in us. Registration is not required.
