Back to the 80s - Kieler Stadt- und Schifffahrtsmuseum and Die Pumpe invite you to a retro party!

Cool, flashy and wonderfully colorful: the light-heartedness of the 1980s is an invitation to dive into the past. And where better to do that than at a cool retro party at "Der Pumpe"! Based on the exhibition "Kaufrausch. Konsum und Warenwelten der 1980er Jahre", which runs until June 1, 2025 at the Stadtmuseum Warleberger Hof, Dänische Straße 19, the Pumpe and the Kieler Stadt- und Schifffahrtsmuseum invite dance enthusiasts to the party of the year. Whether disco ball, party decorations or trendy accessories - everything is "totally 80s".

The 1980s were the decade of dance movies. Classics such as "Dirty Dancing" and "Flashdance" also had a major influence on fashion. Leggings, mullet hairstyles and headbands in neon colors were among the must-haves of every fashion-conscious woman, while men preferred moustaches and tracksuits made of balloon silk. If you like, you can simply come in a flashy party outfit on this evening - but it's not a must.
From a culinary point of view, in addition to goulash soup, Roman pot and layered salad, the 80s also produced curiosities such as Mettigel and Toast Hawaii, which are of course a must on this evening. ROH Catering takes care of the physical well-being.

And then it's time to dance the night away. The DJ duo "Die Dynamischen Dauerwellen" invite you on a vinyl-only journey back in time to the 80s. From Depeche Mode, Kim Wilde and Madonna to the new German wave, everything is included. Let yourself be surprised, because a few exhibits have also made it into the premises of the Pumpe. And of course there will also be a photo box. Everything is taken care of, you have to bring your own good mood. We look forward to seeing you.

If you like, come along at 6 p.m. to be transported back to the 1980s on film. Under the motto "Kielumworben II - Waren, Wünsche und Widerstand", the well-known filmmaker Gerald Grote will provide fascinating insights into the squatter scene on Lehmberg, Hansastraße and Sophienblatt.
