Antonello Manacorda concludes his 15-year tenure as Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the KAP by conducting Beethoven's famous Fifth Symphony. The program will be complemented by two masterpieces by Mendelssohn Bartholdy, including his violin concerto, played by violinist Christian Tetzlaff. Beethoven created what is probably the most famous opening work of all time with his Fifth Symphony - four notes associated with fate. "It is truly incredible what this man tells us with four notes. It's not fate, rather he tells us about the tension of life and does so with incredible compositional virtuosity," notes Manacorda. In May 2024, Manacorda released a complete Beethoven cycle with the KAP on the Sony label - a milestone in the history of the orchestra that will resonate for a long time!
