Love tragedy is juxtaposed with crude parody before the characters regain their sanity and themselves at the happy ending. The music leads into the thicket of feelings, into the emotional undergrowth. Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream is a tribute to the great poet Shakespeare, a mirror of the world in the theater, great fun and a multifaceted, outstanding musical delight.
