Where does the anger come from, citizen? Where does the violence come from? Why so loud right now?
Nine post-reunification children ask themselves what happened in the families that no longer talk about politics, only argue and no longer understand each other. "ABBAU OST" takes a close look at how a generation grew up, searches for the bridges and chasms to previous generations and questions entrenched images of the unification of the two German states as a story of success or victimhood.
WE
the ones who moved away
the escaped
those who fled
the disappeared
the enchanted
We, in the camouflage pants,
our Pimkieshirts did not protect us.

Where does the anger come from, citizen? Where does the violence come from? Why so loud right now?
What happens in families who can no longer talk about politics, who only argue or remain silent? And why do people look to the East so much more often when discussing right-wing violence?
A team of children of the post-reunification era try to talk to their parents' generation: sometimes questioning, sometimes pleading, but also angrily accusing. The parents' violent experiences of transformation collide with the children's processes of appropriation - ABBAU OST.
