About Pop 2025 @ Merlin: Beaks & Sloe Paul

In the organizer's words:

Beaks is the music project of Anna Francesca, who has been writing for years but has only recently found a way to share her lyrics in the form of songs. Coming from poetry, she plays words like an instrument, embedded in a sound that is minimalist and effortless. Oscillating between reality and dizzying daydream, Beaks is an open-eyed sleepwalker. This becomes clear in her single "Dirty Girls", which ends with the words: "How do dreams work? Will I wake up when I die?"

Seen in the twilight between sleep and waking, Sloe Paul'smusic seems to be woven from the fine threads of a dream. On repeated listening, however, earthly references can also be detected. The melange, as catchy as it is idiosyncratic, can best be described as psych-folk, experimental singer/songwriter.
