We always play for freedom. Behind bars in prison, behind the flags at the demo, behind the moon in the sunshine. So let's set ourselves free - above and below, in our heads and in our hearts.

We drift virtuosically through the Balkan metropolises, take a spin through the Mediterranean region, turn off just before the Urals, and mix eras, languages, our own with borrowed music, popular hits with the art of improvisation. We can hear freedom, and with it we feel love and transience, wit and longing, melancholy and intoxication.

Freedom is when the four quarters of a bar move together in a friendly manner and make room for a fifth or sixth quarter. When the harmonies of the Occident are embraced by jazz scales in the Klezmer valley. When texts free themselves from the shackles of language and we still understand them. We are so free - Fulitschai!

For 20 years, the Absinto Orkestra has been telling its big and small stories of freedom, together and each musician in his own way: the violinist oscillates between Gershwin and Grapelli, the guitarist plucks Django Reinhardt on the Schnorres, the saxophone races through the bebop rollercoaster, and the singing mandolin player has dug his Bessarabian roots deep into the soil of the Russian homeland of the man on the double bass.

The thoughts are free, wherever the journey takes you. Lunaaaa! Sometimes gypsy, mostly danceable, always free in the here and now.
