Solo evening with Jonas Dumke
Who are you when you play? What happens to language when it suddenly takes on physical form?
Based on the author's letters and literary texts, actor Jonas Dumke takes us on a personal journey to Heinrich von Kleist, paying homage to his language and his life. The war experiences of the young soldier Kleist and his suicide together with Henriette Vogel are also included in this solo evening about a powerful wordsmith whose words ultimately got stuck in his throat. "ACH!" was first produced at the HKB Theater in Bern and celebrated its premiere there in June 23. Since then, it has been further developed and transferred to the stage of Theater Aachen. In March 24, the solo project was invited by the German Academy of Performing Arts to the Young Actors' Week, where it was awarded the Günther Rühle Prize, the Audience Prize and the Prize of the Student Jury.

#pressreviews:
"Dumke sketches Heinrich von Kleist's life like a kaleidoscope, entering into its chaos."
Aachener Zeitung
"Rich in gestures, Dumke demonstrates a deep understanding of the tensions that haunt Kleist, while at the same time poetry demands space. Cascades of text, brilliantly spoken, build up to a frenzy."
Aachener Zeitung
"It is an uncompromising and absolutely personal solo. The boundary between the figure of Kleist and the person acting on stage is blurred by the play between distance and identification."
Theater der Zeit
"Dumke's acting is convincing, Kleist's longing for the meaning of life shapes the body, the motor skills."
Aachener Zeitung
"The intense portrait of a torn man."
Aachener Zeitung
"The boundaries between personality and role, between work and author are just as blurred as those between writer and actor. An unforgettable theater experience."
