Adam is a young American who grew up in Germany. His parents work in the U.S. Armed Forces and so it is only natural for him to join the army when he returns to the United States. But the war he is sent to traumatizes him. He slips and gets into drugs, from which he cannot easily get away. When he also falls seriously ill, he toys with the idea of taking his own life. It is only when he meets a young woman who cares for him that he regains his courage and will to live. Together with his new love, Adam manages to make a fresh start.
Henrik Bierwirth is a thoroughbred musician. The solo trumpeter of the Staatskapelle is by no means content with his duties as a member of the orchestra, but is also the head of the rock band "T20", which was founded in 2019 from the ranks of the Staatskapelle. With "Curtains up", they have recorded an impressive cover album of rock classics.
"Adam" is a rock opera that Henrik Bierwirth composed especially for the Halle Opera during the coronavirus lockdown. It combines massive and powerful rock, heartfelt ballads and daring guitar solos with the orchestral sound of the Staatskapelle. Members of the children's and youth choir are the singing protagonists on stage. An impressive show for all those who like to be carried away by bold sound.
