The trademark of singer-songwriter Adjiri Odametey is his warm, earthy voice. The multi-instrumentalist masters instruments such as the thumb pianos mbira and kalimba, kora, balafon and guitar. SWR wrote about him in 2021: "one of the best world musicians." Adjiri Odametey grew up in the Ghanaian capital Accra, where people of different ethnicities have always cultivated their musical traditions. Through his tours abroad as a teenager, he got to know a wide variety of styles that influenced him. He was a member of bands such as the Pan African Orchestra and recorded their debut album Opus 1 at Peter Gabriel's legendary Real World Studio. With his "African world music", Odametey created his own individual style - always conscious of his West African roots. Adjiri Odametey became known through the title track of his first CD Mala. Now, with Ekonklo - On the Other Side, he presents his fourth CD. He is one of the most impressive representatives of African music today.
