In the organizer's words:
Aerial straps are still famous for being hard, uncomfortable and only something for those super strong aerialists.
So in this workshop we will make straps fun and approachable for aerialists who are already able to comfortably invert in the air on any other apparatus. Whilst strength is definitely beneficial, it is not crucial in order to start having fun playing on the straps. We will cover some of the basic poses (Meathooks, Nutcrackers, Flags, Planches) and get familiar with different families within straps (static, support, spin, swing) but also explore some easy tricks and transitions.
The workshop is also oriented on the participants wishes and capacities.
Prerequisite: two clean inverts on any aerial apparatus
what to bring: if you have sensitive skin bring wrist protection (for example cut socks), and some long sleeve shirt.
Ella Hummel
Ella started aerial arts especially silks at the age of 15. In lack of a teacher she taught herself, traveling to every workshop she could. Already before graduating from highschool she started teaching classes and workshops. After her graduation she auditioned to the dutch circus highschool ACAPA where she specialized in aerial rope. Then she switched school (Flic scuola di circo) as well as specialty and started with her now main discipline aerial straps, whilst continuing giving rope and silks classes at the royal society of gymnastics of Turin and workshops across studios in northern Italy and Germany. Currently she's mainly living in Brussels, studying at the école superiore des arts du cirque (ésac) whilst she enjoys creating and performing, her main passion remains sharing the knowledge she aquired throughout the years with her students across countries and languages. helping them achive their goals rather than teaching tricks they wont be using again after the workshop. Her workshops are taught in German, English, Italian or French.
