Hip-hop dance theater by Mémoires Vives on the occasion of the exhibition The Third World in the Second World War

With hip-hop songs, poetic texts and break-dancing in front of historical photos and film clips, A nos morts recalls largely suppressed chapters of history. Millions of soldiers from the French colonies fought on the front line for France from 1914-18 and helped to liberate Europe from fascism during the Second World War. The exhibition The Third World in the Second World War will be shown in an updated version at the Cologne NS Documentation Center from 8 March to 1 June 2025.

The performances by Compagnie Mémoires Vives, based in the banlieues of Strasbourg, accompanied the traveling exhibition The Third World in the Second World War (conceived and realized by Christa Aretz and Karl Rössel / recherche international e.V.) in Berlin, Cologne, Freiburg, Lucerne, and Frankfurt between 2009 and 2013. For the presentation in May 2025, the production has been revived with actors from North and West Africa, as well as France.
