Singeli is officially declared the sound of Tanzania - a hybrid mix of traditional Tanzanian music forms such as taraab and ngoma with electro beats that reach up to 300 bpm - extremely danceable, subversive, created for its own community and, like the urban space of Dar es Salaam, pulsatingly multi-layered. Founded 15 years ago in Mburahati, a working-class neighborhood in Dar es Salaam. The raw, rushed and high-pitched sound has evolved from a fringe phenomenon into Tanzania's new national musical heritage.

Featuring Dj Sisso and Producer Maiko

Their live performances are ecstatic and legendary. Dj Sisso & Producer Maiko do not work with turntables or expensive DJ equipment, but hack their sounds directly into computer keyboards. MCs fire off frenetic lyrics in Kiswahili about precarious living conditions and experiences of violence, but also about passion, solidarity and the self-confidence of the crowd - a clear contrast to commercial bongo flava

She is a singeli and afrofusion artist. She is based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and in Hamburg, Germany. She also cooperates and works with the singeli-movement in Tanzania. Luciany Sky performs in different shows, and bars or festivals. Normally with her partner & artist Sammy John and their dancers team together. Their mission is it to bring singeli to the world.For that shes also designing clothes & merchandise with singeli topic.
