In a fading vacation village in the 1990s, eleven-year-old Sophie enjoys rare time together with her loving and idealistic father Calum. As the world of growing up draws ever closer for her, Calum struggles under the weight of life outside fatherhood. 20 years later, Sophie's tender memories of their last vacation become a melancholy and haunting portrait of their relationship.

Sometimes there are movies that can't really be put into words. Because they tell so much more than the synopsis suggests. Because they convey feelings that we all know, but which can hardly be described. Charlotte Wells' directorial debut is rightly being celebrated as a small cinematic miracle. It makes us feel the sun on our faces and perhaps also tears on our cheeks.
