Listening to AKRYL songs hurts and feels good at the same time: "I'll sprinkle a little something on your sore heart - some days it's glitter, some days it's salt."

The Swiss newcomer introduces herself with this poetic image, announcing her arrival with her soon to be released first single "Blumen aus Metall" : "New year, new panic. I look for wrinkles on my face, my transience takes my breath away. I see my reflection suffocating. Look how my hands bleed, they hold flowers made of metal. They hold your ideal."

The artist from St. Gallen, who tells honest and unsparing stories of emotional chaos and social frustration and literally hits the heart with her warm voice, sets her beautiful, poetic lyrics in a multi-layered, delicately spun world of sound. She spans an arc from powerful and loud to vulnerable and quiet - a perfectly imperfect, shimmering golden arc across the indie pop sky. In AKRYL'sgolden cut, soft, shimmering layered choirs and heavy melancholy meet heavy synths and guitars, sometimes inspired by folk and sometimes by the 90s flanger aesthetic.

AKYRL has fallen in love with 2000s and timeless lofi-Americana. She distils a pure, dreamy sound that is tastefully informed: from the dreamy-folky indie pop of Californian singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers. From the early, playful output of a brilliant Feist. From the spherical aura of scandi great Ane Brun. From similarly leftfield-oriented musicians such as Oehl, Faber, Dodie, Aurora, Orla Gartland and Bon Iver. And from a profound sense for the right melody.

The remarkable newcomer songwriter left Switzerland, where she grew up, to move to Mannheim, where she now lives - constantly shuttling between worlds and always in emotional chaos.

So it's no wonder: in her Stream Of Consciousness-influenced lyrics, the artist speaks of loneliness, psychological pressure, social obligation to act and anger towards love. And paints a painful yet beautiful picture of her vulnerability and honesty: "I build a nest just for myself and keep the wounds in the spotlight. And when the external pressure increases, I'll tear my soul out of my body. Maybe then it will work."
