Alexander von Reiswitz: "Catching Strangers" mit Zsuzsa Bank, Britta Boerdner und Marjana Gaponenko

In the organizer's words:

In 2005, Berlin photographer Alexander von Reiswitz began approaching strangers on the street and putting them together as a family in order to photograph them as if they really were. Over the course of fifteen years, he continued this project at irregular intervals in numerous countries and cultures.

In the bilingual photo book Catching Strangers (Hatje Cantz), alongside his black and white images, there are 22 texts by renowned contemporary authors who, in exploring the themes of family, chance and fate, have invented a wide variety of stories to accompany individual images.

Zsuzsa Bank, Britta Boerdner and Marjana Gaponeko will present their texts, interviewed by moderator Freddy Langer (FAZ). Also in conversation: Photographer Alexander von Reiswitz and Florian Koch, who has overseen the literary part of this multifaceted project for the past 20 years. Numerous photographs will be projected onto the screen throughout the evening.
