Two brothers, five friends: the musicians around Alexej Gerassimez ignite a firework of sound colors. With infectious curiosity, the composer and percussion virtuoso explores the sounds of nature and experiments with unorthodox sound objects. In his "Suite of Elements", premiered in 2017, he brings the five elemental substances water, wood, stone, metal and fur to life as percussion materials. The ensemble combines improvisation with breathtaking percussion acrobatics and draws the audience into a maelstrom. A "mind-expanding journey of discovery", says Gerassimez, who also uses the program to reflect on our use of resources and the environment.
Points of calm are created by the alternation between the five furious parts of the percussion suite and Simeon ten Holt's "Canto Ostinato". This minimal music work, played on four mallet instruments (e.g. marimba) and piano, slows down time and draws attention to the here and now.
The concert is organized by Beethovenfest-Schülermanagement 2025.
