Reading & talk with Jörg Lange and author Justin S. Drabo

Frank is convinced that his father, who has been held hostage by terrorists in the Sahel for years, is trying to send him a message through his dreams. He desperately throws himself into the search for answers. The monologue by Burkinabe author Justin Drabo resembles an autopsy of the geopolitical crisis and the challenges in the fight against terrorism in the Sahel and elsewhere.

Les Aliens, written from the perspective of a hostage's son, blends real and fictional elements. At the same time, the play challenges stereotypical views of 'Africa' from a Western perspective-and vice versa.

Jörg Lange, a long-time friend of Justin Drabo, a qualified theologian and hydraulic engineer, worked for more than 20 years in development cooperation in Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Cameroon, DR Congo and Haiti. In April 2018, he was kidnapped by jihadists on the border between Niger and Mali and held hostage in Mali for 1,702 days. He was released on December 8, 2022.
