BLUSH ALWAYS
Different, yet familiar: for her second album as Blush Always, Leipzig-based musician and songwriter Katja Seiffert sheds a new light on the strengths of her debut album from last year. On "An Ode To ?", critical self-reflection and empathetic storytelling increasingly take the place of chronic self-doubt, and her indie rock sound finds its way from rugged urgency to catchy alternative pop with great naturalness.
Katja Seiffert makes music out of conviction. With the passionate self-empowerment songs of Blush Always' first album "You Deserve Romance", released in fall 2023, she playfully adapted the sound of 90s indie rock for the here and now, not only relying on irresistible melodies and captivating intensity, but also sounding, unlike many of her peers, like an artist whose love of music is greater than the desire to become famous. With the follow-up "An Ode To ?", released less than twelve months later, she remains true to herself, but subtly shifts the focus.
SOFT LOFT
Soft Loft is a Swiss collective led by singer and lyricist Jorina Stamm. They are an insider tip, at home in the scene, but you wouldn't be surprised if they opened for Taylor Swift one day. They make music that breaks open your shell, reinterprets the broken and ugly and makes you fall head over heels in love with the fallible and human. From day one, they've made it their mission to create a space where vulnerability is like oxygen and connecting with another human being is like a summer breeze. Their sound is a sticky mix of ecstasy and melancholy that they describe as "indie-something-something". They feel just as at home in a shoebox-like club with a sweaty, screaming crowd as they do on big stages in front of a raging sea of people.
