In 2002, the mixture of guttural death metal, New York hardcore and Swedish melodic metal was considered blasphemy. All Shall Perish emerged from a musically diverse group of teenagers from the Californian Bay Area, home to many revolutionary metal bands. Their sound was influenced by bands like Dying Fetus, At The Gates, Hatebreed, Blood Has Been Shed, Irate, Cannibal Corpse, Dimmu Borgir, Pantera and Metallica.
After releasing a demo in 2002, they signed with the small Japanese label Amputated Vein Records and released their first album "Hate. Malice. Revenge", which was re-released by Nuclear Blast Records in 2005. This album was an unabashedly blasphemous amalgamation of formerly sacred styles and is considered one of the first deathcore albums ever. It is regularly cited as an influential component of the bands that formed in its aftermath.
In 2006, ASP released a genre-defining album, "The Price of Existence", which featured lead guitarist Chris Storey and brought a breathtaking shred virtuosity to ASP's sound. The band also enjoyed the incredible dynamism of vocalist Hernan "Eddie" Hermida, who would later lead the band Suicide Silence after the untimely death of their vocalist Mitch Lucker.
2008 saw the release of "Awaken The Dreamers", which Kirk Hammett of Metallica praised in Rolling Stone magazine as one of the 25 best albums of the decade. ASP toured the world with bands such as Slipknot, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Gojira and Machine Head and was the first all-American metal band to tour Siberia.
After a hiatus following their 2011 release "This is Where it Ends", All Shall Perish reunited with their Price of Existence lineup in 2024, revitalizing the band's presence in a scene they had helped shape. Their European tour in 2025 marks their return to the global stage, proving once again why All Shall Perish is a fundamental force in modern metal.
