"But everything, my dearest, is now ultra!"
This year's motto "Alles ultra" comes from a letter that Johann Wolfgang von Goethe wrote to the composer Carl Friedrich Zelter 200 years ago. "But everything, my dearest, is now ultra. Everything transcends inexorably, in thought as well as in action. No one knows himself any more ..." He was describing the feeling of being overwhelmed in an increasingly confusing world - which is still astonishingly relevant today. Experts from the fields of philosophy, cultural studies and music discuss the causes of the recurring social crisis and look for solutions - possibly also in art. Soprano Anna-Lena Elbert and pianist Amadeus Wiesensee will illustrate the musical references in conversation and with works by Carl Friedrich Zelter, Franz Schubert and others.
