Alles eine kriminelle Vereinigung?

In the organizer's words:

The criminal offence of "criminal association" (in Germany §129 StGB), originally intended to combat organized crime, is repeatedly used against anti-fascist and social movements. A current example is the Budapest Complex trial, in which several anti-fascists are accused of attacking right-wing actors at the neo-Nazi event "Day of Honor" in Budapest and in the context of which the anti-fascist Maja T. was unconstitutionally extradited from Germany to Hungary.

The activists of the anarchist group Rouvikonas in Greece are also accused of organizing themselves as a criminal "gang" in order to increase the scope of investigations against them, discredit their social concerns and criminalize their members. The proceedings show that the use of the construct "criminal organization" as a means of repression against activists is a European phenomenon that is also used in other EU countries.

That is why we have invited activists from Rouvikonas Greece. Together with other affected people, lawyers and journalists, we want to take a multi-perspective look at the topic, see what similarities and differences there are in the application of these paragraphs and ultimately explore what possibilities for mutual reference and solidarity could be found.

Active in Family and Friends Hamburg, an initiative of relatives and supporters of the anti-fascists accused in the Budapest Complex. Vasilis and Eirini activists from Rouvikonas. The group is under investigation for forming a criminal organization. Their practical solidarity approach and their social-revolutionary organizing principle are to be criminalized.

Anna Busl

Zaid's lawyer. He is a defendant in the Budapest complex and was imprisoned in Cologne-Ossendorf. Zaid has roots in Germany but has no citizenship and is therefore particularly at risk of extradition to Hungary.

Matthias Monroy

Journalist, reports on the Budapest complex and has been reporting on Europe's security architecture and the networking of police forces for over 20 years.
