Almost Twins

With the release of their debut album Hands / Trees in May 2024, Almost Twins have developed from an insider tip in the Leipzig indie scene into one of the most exciting acts in German indie music. Supported by two tours of Germany, appearances at various festivals and as a support act for Dekker on 16 dates, the five indie folkers have made 2024 their year. 2025 is set to continue in a similar vein, with Almost Twins embarking on their next tour of 10 German cities in spring - presented by Handshake Booking, Wagram Stories Berlin, RAUSGEGANGEN, MusikBlog, detektor.fm, untoldency, Frontstage Magazine and Einen hab ich noch. The band around singer and songwriter Max Grüner has also announced new music: The first single from their second album is expected to coincide with the tour in spring 2025. With their hand-crafted songs, ranging from subtle complexity to charming simplicity, the five musicians create an irrepressible live energy. On stage, the almost twin-like understanding of Max Grüner (vocals, guitar), Laurenz Welten (saxophone, clarinet), Valentin Mühlberger (Wurlitzer, synth), Arne Imig (bass) and Raphael Schuster (drums) can be clearly felt. From the quietest acoustic guitar moments to jazz-inspired, expressive climaxes, Almost Twins fully exploit the dynamics of their songs. Warm synth carpets, circling Wurlitzer patterns, dreamy saxophone and clarinet lines and polyphonic vocals combine to create a sound that feels light without losing its depth, radiates calm and yet allows itself to break out of it. A perfect singer-songwriter's dream, reminiscent of Erlend Øye (Kings Of Convenience), José Gonzáles or This Is The Kit.
