Almuth Kühne & Joke Lanz

Almut Kühne and Joke Lanz have been playing together with Alfred Vogel (drums) in the trio HOW NOISY ARE THE ROOMS? since 2020 on international stages and jazz festivals such as Willisau, Saalfelden, Moers, Porta Jazz, Seitwärts-Festival Hannover, Joe-Festival Essen and Bitches Brew Festival Berlin.

At the Soundtrip concerts, they will be performing as a duo for the first time and it can be assumed that they will make full use of their Dadaist wit. Both have an intuitive feel for instant compositions, a rich palette of sound colors and ideas, as well as an energetic live performance. Autonomous sound cells and cartoonish scraps of speech rapidly condense into a conglomerate, making it difficult to distinguish which sounds come from whose instrument.

Joke Lanz was born in Basel and has lived in Berlin for 20 years. He is a pioneer of the electronic independent scene and a border crosser between improvised and experimental music, between noise and turntablism, between performance art and musique concrète.
In addition to theater and film music, radio work, objects and installations, two constants run through his work: his avant-garde noise band "Sudden Infant" and his work as a turntablist, in which he manipulates record players and vinyl records and creates his own personal language.

He is active worldwide and has released countless recordings on international labels. Collaborations and concerts with Christian Marclay, Shelley Hirsch, Ute Wassermann, Peter Kowald, Sophie Agnel, Almut Kühne, Matthias Müller, Theo Nabicht, Jonas Kocher, Olaf Rupp, Johannes Bauer, Radio Symphonieorchester Wien and many more.

The singer and composer Almut Kühne (*1983 in Dresden) lives in Berlin and sings solo improvisation, in duo/trio with jazz musicians such as Jordina Millà, Francesco Bigoni, Chris Dahlgren, Joke Lanz and Johanna Borchert; in larger ensembles such as the Bottom Orchestra, Stefan Schultze Large Ensemble, Christophe Schweizer's Rumi Project and in contemporary music theater and dance productions such as the independent opera company Novoflot. As an interpreter of new and contemporary music, she has sung pieces by John Cage, Ondřej Adámek, Morton Feldman, Michael Edward Edgerton, Stephane Furic Leibovici, Manuel Rodríguez-Valenzuela and many others.
With a keen interest in exploring the interfaces between art, music, movement, literature and science, she also collaborates in her projects with dancers, actors and visual artists such as Nayana Bhat, Helge Leiberg, Marianna Christofides and Niklaus Troxler.
