Amerika – Der Verschollene - nach Franz Kafka

In Kafka's story, the young Karl Roßmann is not exactly following a dream when he sets off from Europe to America. The 16-year-old has impregnated a maid and is therefore shipped overseas by his parents. The new world has not been waiting for him. His stay in America becomes a search for connection in the land of a thousand possibilities and Karl Roßmann's journey is an odyssey through his own soul, in which all the highs and lows of existence are traversed. Kafka foresaw the fate of modern man a hundred years ago and anticipates it. The focus is no longer on the individual, but on economic cycles. The exhaustion of the individual on the run, the longing for home, love and security are his central themes.
